С&Т Словачка раководи со 20,000 парчиња ИТ опрема за словачкото Министерство за одбрана

The managed services market is booming: 42 billion dollars in market volume up to 2009

27 September, 2007. S&T Slovakia and the Ministry of Defence of the Slovak Republic, represented by the communication department, concluded a contract for post-warranty services for around 20,000 pieces of IT equipment. The major managed services contract will run for a period of two years, with a contract renewal option for another two years. S&T Slovakia's national service network, guaranteed response and handling times with a professional online service desk application, combined with the many years of experience of S&T's specialists won the Ministry over.
The managed services contract with the Ministry of Defence became effective in June 2007. Since then, S&T Slovakia's experts are dealing with around 100 repair requests per day for IT equipment maintained by the Slovak Ministry of Defence and for which the manufacturer's warranty has expired. S&T Slovakia services all desktop computers and laptops, LCD and CRT screens, printers, servers, scanners, UPS units, multifunctional applications, minicomputers and microcomputers. Also covered are the following services: hardware repairs, hardware configuration set-up and fine-tuning, replacement of faulty or non-functional hardware parts, hardware installation, preventative maintenance and a replacement parts service. "S&T Slovakia has succeeded in this important tender process against four other companies and has won the customer's trust on the basis of its quality, prompt handling and reliability. Recently, we won a similar contract in the Czech Republic. S&T Czech Republic is performing post-warranty services nationally for the Czech Ministry of Defence for four central systems, including the personnel information system", explains Christian Rosner, CEO of S&T AG.

National coverage
S&T Slovakia has four service centres with qualified staff and a replacement parts store so that requests from the various subsidiaries and Ministry of Defence departments can receive immediate response and so that on-site support can be provided nationally. Moreover, S&T Slovakia guarantees rigidly agreed prices for services and a wholly transparent process.

User benefits: speed and transparency
The Slovak Ministry of Defence's network equals a matrix of independent centres. This amounts to more than 20,000 pieces of post-warranty IT equipment that require ongoing technical support. By using an online service desk system (SolveDirect), employees of the Slovak Ministry of Defence have at hand a tool for quick and easy failure reporting. A user simply logs into the system via a portal and specifies in a simple procedure the type of failure and unit concerned. The request is then transmitted to a central office and is followed by verification of the unit affected and approval of the service request. At this point, a 24-hour response time starts for dealing with the request. Included in this time is an on-site visit by a specialist in order to repair the unit, delivery of the required replacement part or ordering of the part if it is not in stock. The solution allows the customer to follow the request's status online directly within the system. At the same time, accurate reports and information on past support requests can be provided, which allow error statistics to be generated for individual units. The service reduces the time needed to process repair jobs while ensuring the transparency and monitoring of IT equipment in all the Slovak Ministry of Defence's facilities.

Managed services - the potential market
Increasingly, many companies are contracting managed services such as these. A current study by the technology research centre Ovum has assigned the managed services market a volume of around 42 billion dollars worldwide, of which 11 billion is for Europe alone. As a study by Coleman Parks demonstrated, the strongest demand is for high-quality desktop management. The main reason for the use of such services is to concentrate on core business and cost savings. Also, companies expect a higher quality IT service. The managed service market in Austria is valued at around 300 million euros. Also, in Austria, S&T has large managed service projects, e.g. S&T Austria serves around 7,000 desktop PCs and notebooks, all the printers and 400 server systems for voestalpine which has worked with S&T in the area of managed services since 1999.

S&T Slovakia
Slovakia, Bulgaria and the Ukraine are the three countries in which the S&T enterprise group started its founding year in 1993. In 2005, S&T acquired the SAP specialist company VARIAS in Slovakia. S&T Slovakia is one of the most significant suppliers of integrated solutions in the area of IT and is one of the biggest outsourcing providers. S&T Slovakia employs around 160 staff and has subsidiaries in Bratislava, Banska Bystrica, Kosice and Zilina.
